KING OF ARIZONA REALTY was first opened in 1993 by Wayne and Jayne Cushman.  We named our real estate company after the King of Arizona Gold Mine, which is located approximately 33 miles southeast of Quartzsite, AZ.  Originally known as the Kofa District of Arizona, and currently Yuma County. 

The King of Arizona Gold Mine was discovered in 1896 by Charles E. Eichelberger, and was in almost continuous operation until 1910.  Last produced in 1939.  It reportedly produced gold worth $14,000,000.00, and at the time was the single richest producing gold mine in the state. 

Gold ore was hauled by wagon teams 35 miles to a small mill on the Gila River near the town of Mohawk, AZ.  The gold price was $20.67 per ounce.

The King of Arizona Gold Mine is currently located in the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge.  Online records indicate it is a patented claim and privately owned.
